Lockport, NY is just outside of Buffalo, NY. The region is strategically located on the eastern end of Lake Erie where Lake Erie meets the Niagara River. Therefore, it finds itself on the border of Canada across from Fort Erie, Ontario. By being in New York State, Buffalo is classified as a northeastern city. However, it is closer to many Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Michigan and Indiana metros than those of the upper northeast.
